FAQ

What is Unix epoch time?

Unix epoch time (or POSIX time) is the number of seconds elapsed since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC. It's a standard way to represent time in computing, used by most programming languages and operating systems.

Seconds vs milliseconds — how does it detect?

If your timestamp is greater than 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000), the tool assumes it's in milliseconds. Otherwise, it treats it as seconds. Most JavaScript timestamps are in milliseconds, while Unix/C timestamps are in seconds.

What date formats are accepted?

The tool accepts any format parseable by JavaScript's Date constructor, including ISO 8601 (2025-01-15T12:30:00Z), RFC 2822, and common formats like "Jan 15, 2025 12:30:00". For best results, use ISO 8601.
